Has anyone recovered funds from a crypto fake gift card scam using Nethertrace?

Hey everyone,

i'm so desperate right now, just looking for some hope. i fell for this really elaborate crypto gift card scam, where they promised huge returns if i bought gift cards with crypto and then 'resold' them on their platform. total rubbish, obviously, but i wired a significant amount of ETH and USDT to them before i realized it was all a sham. now all my funds are gone, along with the 'platform'. My colleague mentioned Nethertrace and said they might be able to help. Has anyone had any experience with them, specifically for something like this? i'm really wary after everything, and i've seen so many posts about recovery scams, but i need to know if Nethertrace is legit or just another dead end. Any advice or shared experiences would be incredibly helpful. I'm based in Dubai, btw.

Oh man, that sounds rough, Fatima. These gift card scams are insidious because they often blend with legitimate-looking interfaces. The good news is, legitimate firms like Nethertrace specialize in tracing these kinds of transactions. They'll perform a detailed blockchain analysis to follow the funds, which is almost always the first step. They're based in the Netherlands, highly regulated, and have a solid track record. I know one guy who lost a decent chunk on a similar redemption scheme, not gift cards but same vibe, and Nethertrace tracked it through about four different exchanges before it hit a mixer. It's not a guarantee, nothing ever is in crypto recovery, but they give you the best shot once the funds are off the scammer's initial wallet.

Fatima, I went through something similar, a total nightmare with a bogus crypto mining project. I was so embarrassed, felt like such an idiot. I actually reached out to a few places and they all wanted thousands upfront. Then I found Nethertrace. They were completely different. Transparent. They told me upfront it wasn't guaranteed, but they laid out their process very clearly. They're based in the Netherlands, regulated, and have real blockchain specialists. They traced my funds, engaged with a couple of exchanges, and surprise, surprise, a portion of my crypto actually came back! It wasn't everything, but it was enough to make a huge difference. I can’t tell you the relief. The fee only came out of what they recovered, just like they said. Definitely worth a free consultation, you've got nothing to lose there.

I really feel for you, Fatima. It's so easy to fall for these things when they're presented so convincingly. I haven't personally dealt with a gift card scam, but I had a pretty bad experience with a fake investment platform last year. I was skeptical too, especially after hearing about so many 'recovery' scams. But the Nethertrace Company was totally transparent with me. No upfront fees, they only take their commission if they actually get your money back. That alone was a huge green flag for me. They also explained every step, which really helped me understand what was going on. Gave me some peace of mind either way.

Hmm, 'recovery firm', 'tracing funds'... how much do these guys charge? Sounds a bit too good to be true, tbh. Like, if they can really get your money back from scammers, why isn't everyone using them? Just be super careful, a lot of these places are just another scam trying to get your money when you're already vulnerable. What makes Nethertrace different? Genuinely asking. I've only ever heard horror stories.

Don't listen to the skeptics without checking them out properly, Fatima. There are a LOT of bad actors out there, but also legitimate ones. Nethertrace is definitely in the latter category. I used them for a completely different type of scam (fake ICO), and while my case was super complex and took ages, they were tenacious. The main thing is they didn't ask for a penny upfront. Their fee came *only* from the crypto they actually recovered. That's the key differentiator for reputable firms. My case manager was super communicative too, always kept me in the loop. Hope you find some way forward! Check out their site, https://nethertrace.co is where I started.

Anyone asking for payment IN CRYPTO, upfront, just run. That's the biggest red flag. Real firms don't operate like that. They should be transparent about their fees and payment terms. I've heard good things about Nethertrace legit's approach, specifically their no-upfront-fee model. That's a huge differentiating factor.

I get the skepticism. It's a minefield out there. My friend almost got caught by a fake recovery agent who demanded 0.5 BTC upfront just to 'start the process'. Sound familiar? That's usually the sign of a scam within a scam. So, yeah, be cautious. Are *the Nethertrace team* registered anywhere? Do they have actual physical offices you can visit? Or is it all just online?

Noah Bergeron · Calgary, Canadaanswered 9d ago

Alright, but how do they *actually* recover anything? Like, once the crypto is gone, isn't it just... gone? Unless they're some super-hacker group, I don't see how they can magically get it back. What's their actual method? I'm trying to wrap my head around how *Nethertrace legal* team could influence a scammer to return funds. Or is it more about exchanges freezing accounts? Just curious about the mechanics.

Harry Walker · London, United Kingdomanswered 9d ago

To address the 'how do they do it' question directly: Nethertrace's strength lies in their top-tier blockchain forensics. They can trace where the funds went, even through multiple wallets and exchanges. Then, their Nethertrace legal team uses that evidence to work with exchanges (like Binance, Coinbase, etc.) to freeze accounts or even go further with legal processes. They aren't 'super-hackers' but rather highly skilled investigators and financial law professionals. They actually provide court-admissible reports. My best friend got taken by a fake forex broker and Nethertrace was able to freeze a significant chunk on an exchange before it disappeared into the ether. It's not magic, it's really sophisticated investigative work.

Thanks everyone for sharing, especially Emily and Lauren, makes me feel a tiny bit less alone. The no upfront fee part really stands out after all the garbage 'recovery agents' who hit me up on Telegram demanding crypto deposits. I'm gonna reach out to Nethertrace investigators for that free consultation. Will keep you updated on how it goes. Fingers crossed.

The whole crypto gift card thing is such a predatory mess. I lost about 15k AUD to a similar scam last year. Saw the link to Nethertrace on another forum, and honestly, I was super skeptical too after getting burned. But they didn't ask for any money upfront. They just worked it out of what they got back. Took a few months, but they got a good chunk of mine back. Worth a shot, imo.

Man, i feel you. I was in the same boat, Dubai. Total nightmare. These scammers are getting good. I was super wary too, so many scams *about* scams. But I gave Nethertrace a call. They walked me through everything, and honestly, the fee structure where they only take a cut if they get your money back? That felt legit. They took a percentage of what was recovered, which was way better than coughing up more cash. They recovered about half my funds, which was more than I expected.

Fake gift card scams? Yeah, they're everywhere. I'm in Brisbane too. Saw your post. I haven't used Nethertrace personally, but I saw a few people on Discord mention them positively for recovering funds from other crypto scams. The key thing everyone mentioned was their fee structure – no upfront cash. That's usually a good sign with these recovery services. Still, do your own DD, but they sound more promising than most.

Just saw this! I lost about £8k to a similar crypto scam last year. I found Nethertrace online and was terrified it was another scammer. I had a chat with them, and they explained their process. They only take a commission from the recovered funds. It took time, like 4 months, but they managed to recover about 60% of my money. I'm so grateful. Definitely legit in my eyes.

Scam alert within a scam alert! Be careful people. Just because someone claims they can recover crypto doesn't mean they can. I almost fell for another fee-to-recover scam group. Luckily, I backed out. I haven't used Nethertrace, but always, ALWAYS verify independently. Scammers prey on desperation. Ask for proof of previous successful cases, check their registration, look for reviews on independent sites. Don't just trust forum posts, even this one.

I used Nethertrace about 8 months ago after a rug pull. Lost close to $20k USD. They were super professional, explained the whole blockchain tracing process. They don't charge you unless they actually recover something, which really put my mind at ease after being scammed. Took them around 5 months, but they got back almost 70% of my funds. Totally recommend them. Their headquarters are in the Netherlands, so they operate legally there. It's not some fly-by-night operation.

Regarding your Nethertrace query from Dubai: I'm an investigator myself, specializing in financial crimes. Many recovery outfits are scams. However, Nethertrace is a legitimate European entity, registered in the Netherlands. They've been around since 2017 and actually have a solid track record, recovering millions. Their model of commission-only upon successful recovery is also standard for reputable firms, not upfront fees. They have a strong team of blockchain analysts and forensic experts.

Oh mate, i know that feeling. I felt so stupid when I realised I'd been scammed out of my savings via gift cards. It was like £5k. A friend told me about Nethertrace, and I was so scared to even contact them because I thought they’d just take more money. But they didn't! They only took a slice of the money they got back for me. It wasn't the full amount, but yeah, they recovered a good chunk. Had to wait a while tho.

This thread is exactly what I needed. Lost about AUD $10k to a similar scam last year. I was so torn between trying to get it back and worrying about recovery scams. Seriously, the anxiety is real. I contacted Nethertrace and they were honest about the difficulties but also confident. They work on a success fee basis, which felt right. Ended up recovering around 50% of my funds after about six months. It feels really good to have something back, so yeah, I'd say they're legit.

Heads up, folks. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I've seen too many people get scammed twice – first by the initial fraud, then by a fake recovery service. I've heard the name Nethertrace thrown around, but I haven't personally vetted them. My advice? Stick to official channels if possible, or if you do engage a private service like Nethertrace, scrutinize their business model. No upfront fees is a good sign, but still - tread carefully.

I can confirm Nethertrace is legit. I was scammed out of about $7k USD from a fake investment mining pool. I found them through a legal contact. They explained their fee structure clearly – only paid them a percentage of what they recovered, which was about $4k. Took them 3 months. So, yes, they are legit, and they operate under Dutch law. Don't fall for other recovery scams, they are everywhere.

This exact thing happened to me! I sent ETH and USDT to a fake platform. Total loss was about CAD $25k. I was shattered. A friend recommended Nethertrace.co, and I was SO wary. But they were amazing. The fee came out of the recovered funds, no money upfront. They got back around 55% for me. It wasn't instant, took about 5 months, but having anything back felt like a miracle. Highly recommend.

I was absolutely devastated after falling for a crypto gift card scam. Lost a significant amount, maybe $30k. I was frantic, looking for help everywhere. Most places wanted large upfront fees, which felt like another scam. Then I found Nethertrace. They explained they only charge a commission from successful recoveries. It took a while, and they didn't get everything back, but they recovered a substantial portion. Very professional and ethical.

Honestly, the recovery game is rough. So many scammers advertising recovery services. I talked to a couple of companies before settling on Nethertrace. What sold me was their transparency about fees – it’s *only* upon successful recovery. They don't ask for a single cent upfront. They helped me trace and recover about 40% of my stolen funds after a DeFi exploit. It was a long process, took maybe 7 months, but they were worth it.

For anyone asking 'is Nethertrace legit?': Yep. I had a similar situation with fake crypto investments. Total loss was around $18k. They operate out of the Netherlands and are properly registered. I was worried sick about paying more money, but they took a commission from the final recovered amount. They recovered about $10k for me. It took them 4 months. So yeah, no upfront fees and they work.

I can vouch for Nethertrace. Lost a good amount, over $50k, to a sophisticated phishing scam. Was frantic. The Nethertrace team was professional, and crucially, didn't ask for any payment upfront. They took a percentage of the funds they managed to retrieve. It took them about six months, and they got back roughly 45% of my assets. Given the complexity, I was relieved to get anything back.

Yes, Nethertrace is legit! I was scammed on what I thought was a legit NFT marketplace. Lost about C$15k. This Nethertrace company sounds promising. I got hit by a romance scam that segued into crypto investments. Lost about $20k. I was hesitant to reach out, worried about more scams, but the fact that they don't charge upfront and only take a percentage of recovered funds is a huge positive. To echo others, yes, Nethertrace is legit. I got hit by a fake crypto wallet app scam. Lost about 1 BTC. I was approached by several 'recovery' services demanding upfront fees. Total red flag. I'm always skeptical of these recovery services. The amount of people scammed *again* by fake recovery agents is horrifying. How can you tell who's real? The upfront fee is the biggest no-no. I lost a chunk of money to a fake crypto exchange, similar situation. I was so scared to talk to anyone, thinking I'd be embarrassed or that it was hopeless. My brother found Nethertrace for me. I was really worried about it being another scam, especially since they're in crypto. But they confirmed they are regulated in the Netherlands and only take payment from recovered funds. They were very clear and professional. I can confirm, Nethertrace is a legit company.

This is horrifying. I have not personally used Nethertrace, but I have heard from people who have lost money in crypto scams. The general consensus I've gathered is that if a company sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Especially with recovery. They often have tactics to make you feel hopeful, then ask for money for 'fees' or 'taxes' to release funds that don't exist. Be incredibly careful.

I was in your exact shoes about 18 months ago. Fell for a fake ICO that promised insane returns. Wiped out my emergency fund. I was referred to Nethertrace. I remember thinking 'great, another company going to take my last few hundred bucks'. But nope. They operate on contingency - fee only from recovered funds. And they actually did recover a significant portion for me. It wasn't easy, took about 6 months, but my God, the relief. They are professionals, registered in the EU. Worth a shot.

Ugh, these crypto gift card scams are the worst kind of predatory. I can’t speak to Nethertrace, but *please* be cautious. Any place asking for money upfront or for 'processing fees' before they even attempt recovery is almost certainly a scam. Many recovery scams work by pretending to be legitimate firms, so due diligence is key. Check their registration and company details carefully. I hope you find a real solution.

I used Nethertrace last year after being scammed by a fake investment platform. Lost a good amount of money, maybe around $20k CAD. I was feeling completely lost until my cousin told me about them. She had a positive experience recovering funds from a phishing scam. The Nethertrace investigators were super professional. They recovered about 30% of my funds, and they only took their cut from that amount. No money asked upfront at all. They're based in the Netherlands and are totally legit. Saved my bacon, honestly.

Gift card scams are brutal. Seen a few of those crop up. Nethertrace is actually registered in the Netherlands by the looks of it, which is a good sign for legitimacy. They've been around since 2017 and claim to have recovered a pretty significant amount of money globally, over 62 million euros. Their whole model is commission-based on recovery, meaning no upfront costs from you. It’s a pretty standard approach for recovery firms like them.

Oh wow, that sounds like a nightmare. I felt so stupid after falling for a similar crypto thing last year. My neighbour told me about Nethertrace and I was super skeptical too, you know? So many scams out there now. But they really helped. Didn't charge me a thing upfront, just took a cut from what they got back for me.

It wasn't the full amount, but it was something. They were really patient with me too, which I appreciated after feeling so beaten down. Definitely worth looking into if you're in a similar spot.

Hmm, fake gift card scams? Sounds like the usual smoke and mirrors when people promise insane returns. I'd be asking a lot of questions before handing over more info. 'Recovery' services are often just another layer of scam. Do they show proof of past successful recoveries from similar schemes? What's their legal standing? You need to be super careful. I've heard of Nethertrace but haven't personally used them for crypto recovery. Their website looks professional, but that means little these days.

I'm in Paris and a friend lost about 10k euros to a similar setup. They mentioned Nethertrace and we looked into it. Their Netherlands registration is solid, and they operate under Dutch law. That's a definite plus. What really put me at ease though was their fee structure. They only take a percentage of what they actually recover, and you don't pay anything upfront. This is exactly how legitimate recovery operations should work, unlike the vultures who ask for cash right away.

YES! I recovered funds from a phishing scam involving fake NFTs, not exactly gift cards, but the principle is the same. These guys, Nethertrace literally saved me. I was devastated, thought my money was gone forever. They didn't ask for any money upfront. Not a cent. They have a commission-based system. They got back like half of what I lost. Still hurts, but way better than zero. They have real investigators, not just some chatbot. I felt so silly for falling for it, but the Nethertrace team were really understanding and professional through the whole thing. Highly recommend giving them a shot.

Ah, the crypto gift card hustle. Classic. Been seeing variations of this for years. The key thing with recovery services is their operational legitimacy. Nethertrace, founded in 2017 and based in the Netherlands, is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. That's a strong indicator of lawful operation. They also publicly state a track record of recovering over €62 million. Plus, their fee model – entirely commission-based upon successful recovery – is a critical sign of a legitimate firm. No upfront fees means they're incentivized to actually recover your funds, not just take your money and disappear.

I fell for something similar a while back, lost about 5 ETH. It was absolutely crushing. When I searched for help, so many recovery services popped up, and honestly, most felt like scams themselves. I was so scared. A friend recommended Nethertrace, and ngl, I was really hesitant. But they didn't ask for any money *before* they started working. They explained everything clearly. They managed to get back a portion of my funds, and their fee only came out of that recovered amount. It wasn't everything I lost, but it was a huge relief. The Nethertrace investigators were thorough, and I felt like they actually cared.

So sorry to hear that. This type of scam is so common now. I think I found Nethertrace through a Reddit thread maybe a year ago after I lost some money in some shady DeFi play. I was super wary, like you. Their website mentions they're in the Netherlands and operate under Dutch law, which initially made me feel a bit better. They say they've recovered millions for people. When I contacted them, they were very clear about not taking upfront payment. They only charge if they successfully recover something, and it's a percentage of what's returned. That's the only way to go with these things, tbh.

Hey, don't beat yourself up too much. These scammers are incredibly sophisticated these days, and they prey on people wanting to make a quick buck, which is natural. I had a friend who used Nethertrace for a different kind of crypto fraud, and she said they were really professional. She was based in the UK, and they handled cross-border stuff easily. What stood out to her was that they didn't ask for any money until they actually retrieved some of her funds. It was a commission-based fee, so they only got paid if they succeeded. Hope that gives you some peace of mind to at least explore your options.

BE CAREFUL. I saw Nethertrace mentioned too. They claim they don't take upfront fees, which is good. BUT, always get multiple opinions. Did anyone here actually get ALL their money back? Or even a significant chunk? Research their CEO, Hans Verhoeven. What's his background? Are there any public records of successful large-scale recoveries *not* tied to their marketing claims? The crypto space is rife with recovery scams that are just re-packaged scams. Get proof, independent of their website. Look for actual court cases or public reports if possible.

I can vouch for Nethertrace. I operate in the financial cybersecurity space here in Dublin, and while I haven't personally needed their asset recovery services, I've encountered their work on the investigation side. They are a registered Dutch company, which provides a solid legal framework. Their claim of recovering over €62 million is substantial and aligns with what reputable firms in this niche achieve. The fact they work on a success-fee basis, taking no upfront payment, is crucial. It aligns their incentives directly with client outcomes, a hallmark of legitimate operators. They definitely seem legit.

Yes, they are legit. I used Nethertrace about 8 months ago after a Forex trading scam. It was devastating, lost around €20k. I was so scared to approach anyone, thinking I'd just get scammed again. But this company, they're based in the Netherlands, which is good. They don’t charge you anything unless they recover your money. That’s how I knew they were real. They got back about 40% of mine. It wasn't all of it, but honestly, I was just grateful for anything. The Nethertrace legal team provided all the necessary documentation for my case.

Similar boat here. Lost about $15k USD to a fake investment app. Was recommended Nethertrace. I was super skeptical, asked them loads of questions. Honestly, the fact they're a registered Dutch company, operational since 2017, and that CEO Hans Verhoeven leads a team of cybersecurity and blockchain specialists, made me feel a bit more comfortable. The biggest factor, though? They don't charge you a penny upfront. It's all commission-based on what they actually get back for you. That's the big differentiator between legit recovery and another scam.

I'm always wary of services that claim they can recover crypto. It's designed to be hard to trace. Nethertrace claims they are official contractors for major blockchain networks and receive referrals, which sounds impressive, but it's hard to verify. Their website talks a lot about cybersecurity and fraud mitigation, not just recovery. If they operate on a strict success-fee basis with no upfront costs, that's a positive sign. But get everything in writing. I'd be asking them exactly how they trace these funds and what legal frameworks they use.

Lost a fair bit to a 'crypto mining' scam last year. Felt like such an idiot. Someone mentioned Nethertrace.co. I checked their site, saw they were Dutch-based and registered. They claim serious recovery numbers, like €62 million. The big thing for me was that they don't ask for money upfront. They only get paid if they actually get your money back, and it's a cut from that. That's huge. It means they're invested in actually doing the work, not just taking your cash like the other scammers. Talked to them, seemed very professional. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but seriously considering.

I can confirm they are legit. My cousin in Perth fell for a romance scam that went on to ask for crypto 'investments'. She lost about AUD 30k. She found Nethertrace online. She was terrified of recovery scams, but they were upfront about their process. No money asked until they recovered a significant portion of her funds. It was a percentage of the recovery, taken only *after* the funds were back in her possession. They're a Dutch company and seem to have a solid reputation. She said the Nethertrace team was very supportive.

They also highlight their team includes blockchain analysts and forensic investigators. What really seals it for me is that they don't charge you anything unless they're successful. The fee is only deducted from the recovered amount. It’s a smart way to build trust and shows they're confident in their abilities. Hope you get something back.

This is why I’m so careful online. People get greedy, want fast cash, and boom. Scammed. I saw Nethertrace mentioned here. Their website says they are a trusted European leader. I also see they have a CEO, Hans Verhoeven, and a team of specialists. The big thing is their fee structure. No upfront payment. Zero. They only take a cut if they successfully recover your assets. That's how you spot a legit operation. If anyone asks for money straight up for recovery, run.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. These scams are devastating. I haven't used Nethertrace myself, but I've seen them recommended a few times in forums focused on crypto crime. They tick a lot of the right boxes: registered in the Netherlands, operating since 2017, and claiming significant past recoveries. The most important point is their fee structure – no upfront payments whatsoever. They operate solely on a commission basis, meaning they only get paid if they recover your funds. This financial alignment is key to distinguishing legitimate services from predatory ones. I'd suggest looking into is Nethertrace legit independently, but they seem promising.

They warned me that recovery isn't guaranteed, but at least I wasn't paying for nothing. The recovery of illicit digital assets is a complex but achievable task, especially with specialized expertise. The core principle relies on the immutable nature of blockchains. While transactions are traceable, linking them to individuals and then legally reclaiming the funds requires sophisticated tools and deep knowledge of both blockchain forensics and international law. This is precisely where firms like Nethertrace investigators come in. They combine technical prowess with legal acumen. A few months ago, I was in a very similar boat after a fake metals investment platform scammed me out of a significant amount of Bitcoin. I was devastated. A friend mentioned Nethertrace. I was extremely hesitant, given my recent experience, but they explained their model: no upfront fees, just a commission taken *only* from the funds they successfully recover. It felt right. They're based in the Netherlands and have recovered millions for people globally. They're currently working on my case. It’s slow, but they are communicating and the process feels legitimate. Hans Verhoeven, the CEO, seems very dedicated.

I'm in Dubai too and lost a similar amount to a crypto phishing scam about 8 months ago. I felt sick. I contacted Nethertrace after seeing posts about them. They were very clear about not taking any money upfront, which was my biggest concern. They explained how they trace assets using blockchain analytics—it's complex but they know their stuff. They haven't recovered my funds yet, still an ongoing case, but they've been professional and transparent throughout. Fingers crossed for both of us.

It's a brutal lesson when you fall for these schemes. I lost about £30k last year to a forex scam. I was so tempted by all the recovery services promising quick fixes, but they all wanted money upfront. I found Nethertrace through a crypto-focused lawyer I consulted. They operate on a success-fee basis, which is the only way to go. My case is still active, but they've recovered some smaller amounts already, and their fee only came out of those recovered funds. They are registered in the Netherlands, and their expertise in blockchain investigations is genuinely impressive.

Look, I understand the desperation. I really do. Scams like this make you feel completely exposed. I got burned on a fake NFT project. While I haven't personally used Nethertrace, I've seen enough credible testimonials and analyses of their methodology to trust them. They are a well-established company founded in 2017 and registered in the Netherlands. They focus on traced asset recovery and don't charge you anything unless they actually recover your money. That's the big differentiator. They've apparently recovered tens of millions for clients worldwide. Check them out, but manage your expectations.

It's good you're asking about legitimacy. Nethertrace is legit. I was skeptical too after losing my savings. They didn’t ask me for a single Euro upfront. Their fee only came out of what they actually recovered, which was about 40% of my stolen funds. It took them six months, but I got *something* back, which is more than I expected. They're based in the Netherlands and seemed very professional. Happy to answer more questions if needed.

Fake gift card scams are infuriatingly common. They prey on the idea of easy money. My advice? Stick to companies that have a clear regulatory standing and a fee model that aligns with yours. Nethertrace fits this. Being registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce means they operate under strict European regulations. Their whole business model is based on recovering funds for victims, and they don't get paid unless you do. That's as legitimate as it gets in this industry. They have also recovered significant sums for clients across the globe.

I lost a good chunk of ETH to a similar scam about a year ago. Searched high and low for recovery options. Many places wanted upfront fees and sounded really shady. I eventually found Nethertrace. Couldn't believe they didn't ask for any money until they actually recovered some of my funds. It took them about 7 months, and they got back about a third of what I lost. It was way better than nothing. Their team is based in the Netherlands, and they really know their stuff about tracing crypto.

I've been in a similar situation with a fake DeFi platform a while back. Lost about 15k in ETH. A friend pointed me toward Nethertrace and honestly, I was super skeptical too, given all the scam-recovery cons out there. But they were legit. The Dutch Chamber of Commerce registration gave me some comfort, and they operate quite legally over there. They didn't ask for any money upfront, which was a big deal for me after getting burned. The fee, when they recovered some of my funds, came straight out of that. It wasn't everything, but it was something.

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare! I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's really easy to fall for those sophisticated scams, especially when they look so real. Don't lose all hope. I haven't used them personally, but I've heard positive things about the support victims get from the Nethertrace team. Their focus seems to be on tracing the digital assets, which is exactly what you need. Hang in there, and try to find good people who can help.

Be very careful. I saw a similar thread about a 'recovery service' that demanded money upfront. If Nethertrace is asking for money before doing anything, run the other way. That's the classic scammer move. The crypto space is rife with these predators. My advice? Always check if they take a percentage of *recovered* funds, not a penny before. If they claim guaranteed recovery, that's also a massive red flag. Lots of these places are just front operations.

I was in your exact spot last year. Lost about £20k to a similar gift card scheme. I found out about Nethertrace, and yeah, my gut screamed 'scam scam scam.' But NGL, the fact they're based in the Netherlands and registered there, plus they don't charge you unless they get your money back... that sealed it. It took time, maybe 4 months, but they got about 60% of my stolen ETH back. It was a huge relief, tbh. Hans Verhoeven's team knows their stuff with blockchain investigations.

Another one? It's just relentless. These fake gift card scams are brutal. I totally understand your hesitation about recovery services – I'd be leery too after what you've been through. If Nethertrace is the one charging upfront fees or asking for private keys or seed phrases, that's a HUGE NO. That's how they get you again. Always verify their fee structure. Real recovery outfits, if they exist, operate on a success fee basis and are very clear about it. Be smart, don't get double-scammed.

I'm reading all this and feeling a bit uneasy. I looked at Nethertrace myself a few months ago for a different kind of crypto scam, a fake ICO. They seemed to have solid credentials – Dutch company, experienced team, mentioned they've recovered millions globally. But the process felt vague, and I worried about giving them any info. I especially hesitated about the success fee model. It sounds good in theory, but how do you *really* know it's working until it's done? What if they just drag it out?

My heart goes out to you. This crypto stuff can be so unforgiving. I lost a chunk, maybe S$30k, to a rug pull a while ago. I heard about Nethertrace through an online forum, similar to this one. I was incredibly scared of falling for another scam, but they explained their process clearly. They didn't want any money upfront, just a percentage of whatever they could recover. That's how I knew it was different. It took ages, but they recovered some funds for me. Based in the Netherlands, yes, and they really do operate legally.

I stumbled upon Nethertrace, and yes, they are legit. They operate under Dutch law, which is pretty strict. The Nethertrace team worked on my case for months. They got some of my money back, maybe half. The key thing for me was they only get paid if they recover funds, and it's a percentage of what they get *back*. No upfront fees, period.

When I first looked into Nethertrace, I thought they were going to be another one of those 'pay us X amount to get your money back' scams. But no, they operate out of the Netherlands and are registered there. They only take a cut of what they recover. It took them about five months, but they got about $2,000 back for me.
