My 'broker' EuroFX wants a 'capital appreciation fee' to release my profits. Is this legit?
Hey everyone, feeling pretty stressed out right now. I've been trading with a platform called EuroFX for a few months, and honestly, things seemed too good to be true at first. My account showed some decent profits, like over 15k EUR. So I tried to withdraw a chunk of it last week.
Now, they're telling me I need to pay a 'capital appreciation fee' before they can process the withdrawal. They said it's for 'international compliance' or something. It's about 15% of my profit, which is like 2250 EUR. I didn't see anything about this fee in their terms and conditions when I signed up. They're being super pushy about it, saying my funds will be locked if I don't pay. I'm in Groningen, so I've been checking stuff from the AFM but it's hard to tell if this is a real thing for brokers, especially with international ones.
Has anyone encountered this 'capital appreciation fee' from EuroFX or any other broker? Is this a standard charge or am I getting scammed? I really need to know before I send them any more money.
