Met an 'investor' on a language app, lost crypto on a fake platform. Is ChainAbuse legit for reporting from Singapore?
Hi everyone, I'm feeling pretty lost and stupid right now. I met someone on HelloTalk, a language exchange app, a few months ago. We started chatting, they seemed really friendly and smart, talked a lot about finance and crypto. Eventually, they convinced me to invest in this platform called CoinEgg. Said it was super exclusive, high returns, you know the drill. I put in a good chunk of my savings, a low five-figure sum, mostly USDT and ETH. For a while, the numbers on the platform looked great, I even saw some 'profits'. But when I tried to withdraw, suddenly there were 'taxes' and 'fees' I had to pay first. I paid some, then more, until I realized it was all a trap. They've ghosted me now, and the platform's gone. I'm in Singapore. I've heard about ChainAbuse but I'm not sure if it's the right place for this or if it'll actually help. Has anyone here had any luck reporting something like this through them, especially with crypto that's supposedly moved?
Lost my crypto to a 'friend' from a gaming community, is ChainAbuse really the way to go?
Okay, so I met this guy, 'Alex,' through a gaming community I've been part of for years. He seemed totally legit, really friendly, we'd chat for hours while playing. Eventually, he started talking about crypto, how he was making passive income, and how I could too. He never pushed, just shared 'tips' and 'wins.' It felt like a friend helping a friend, you know? He got me onto this platform, 'CryptoWealthX,' which looked professional enough. I started small, and actually saw some returns initially. Stupid me, I put in more, then even more, about 10k CAD in total. Then he started talking about this 'liquidity mining event' – a limited-time opportunity to double my stake. I put in another 5k, and that's when everything went dark. The platform froze, Alex disappeared, and I can't withdraw anything. My friend suggested ChainAbuse, but is that even effective? I feel so dumb and embarrassed. I didn't even tell my partner. Any advice on what to do next? Or if I should just give up?
