My partner fell for a fake CoinEgg investment site, lost everything. Any way to get the crypto back?
Feeling absolutely gutted right now. My partner got sucked into one of those 'too good to be true' crypto investment schemes. It was all tied to a site that looked *exactly* like CoinEgg, but it was a fake. They met someone on social media, you know, the whole 'build trust, then recommend this amazing opportunity' playbook. Initially, they put in a small amount, saw some 'returns', and were even able to withdraw a tiny bit. That built confidence, right?
Then they poured in everything, our life savings basically, into USDT. We're talking low six figures. Now, of course, the site is gone, the person is gone, and the funds are nowhere. My partner is devastated, and I'm just… numb. We reported it to the local police here in Galway, but they seemed a bit lost with crypto stuff. We have transaction IDs from when the USDT left our legitimate exchange. Is there *any* hope for tracing this or getting it back? Or is it just gone forever?
