My unregulated 'broker' is asking for a 'digital asset verification fee' to release my crypto profits. Is this a new scam?
Hey everyone, I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I got into crypto trading a few months back through someone I met online. They introduced me to a platform, an unregulated one, I know, I know. Things were going really well, or so I thought. My account balance showed some decent profits, around low five figures. When I tried to withdraw, they suddenly hit me with a 'digital asset verification fee'. They say it's required by some 'international compliance agency' to verify the origin and legitimacy of my crypto assets before they can be released to my bank. It's about 15% of my total profit. This sounds really fishy to me. I've already put so much in. Has anyone encountered this specific fee before? Is this just another one of those tricks to get more money out of me and then disappear?
