Crypto funds gone from my hot wallet after approving a 'sync' to a fake analytics dashboard - any hope?
Hey everyone, I'm pretty gutted right now. I usually try to be super careful with my crypto, but I messed up big time. I was in a Telegram group – one I thought was legitimate for a project I'm invested in – and someone posted a link to an 'updated analytics dashboard' that supposedly showed real-time portfolio performance. It looked really slick, not like a typical phishing site. I connected my MetaMask wallet, thinking it was just a read-only view. The site asked me to 'approve' a small transaction for gas fees to 'sync' my portfolio data. I didn't think much of it, just a few cents. But as soon as I approved, my entire wallet was drained. I lost everything – about 12 ETH and some USDT. I saw the transactions on Etherscan, all approved by my address, sending everything to some random wallet. I feel so stupid. Is there anything, anything at all, I can do? I've already reported it to MetaMask but they said they can't reverse transactions. I'm in Edmonton, Canada, and this was literally my life savings. My wife is going to kill me.
