Is 'Wealth Recovery International' asking for a 'fund release certificate' fee a legit step?
Hi everyone, I was scammed out of a lot of money in a crypto investment scam last year, like, low five figures. Ugh. It was such a hard time, and i'm still kinda reeling from it. I reported it to the local police here in Nijmegen and also filed with the FBI IC3 because the scammers seemed to be international. Didn't hear much back, honestly, so I figured it was gone for good. Then, out of the blue, I got an email from 'Wealth Recovery International.' They said they'd seen my IC3 report and that they'd managed to track some of my funds! They even sent me a screenshot of a transaction log that looked super legit, showing my lost crypto moving to a wallet they claimed to control. Now they're asking for a 'fund release certificate' fee, which is about 1,500 euros, to get my money back. They say it's an official bank charge for international transfers. It feels a bit too good to be true, you know? After everything, i'm so scared of being conned again. Is this a real thing, or am I about to fall for another scam? Any advice would be really, really appreciated.
Is 'Crypto Refund Advocates' asking for a 'proof of funds deposit' just another recovery scam?
Hey everyone, i'm so desperate. I lost almost everything – about $7,000 equivalent – in a crypto investment scam last year. It was one of those fake trading platforms, seemed legit at first, then locked me out. I reported it to the police here in East London and to the FBI IC3 online, but nothing really came of it. Felt so stupid and ashamed. Now, a company called 'Crypto Refund Advocates' contacted me out of the blue. They said they got my details from a 'leaked scam victim database' (which, red flag, i know). They claim they can recover my funds, but they need a 'proof of funds deposit' of $800 to show 'commitment' and 'unlock the recovery process.' It sounds like total BS, but a small part of me, the one that's still hurting from the loss, wants to believe. Have any of you heard of them? Or is this just someone trying to kick me when i'm already down? I can't afford to lose another cent.
