Met a guy on a language exchange app, now my crypto's gone from a fake platform. What now from Miami?

I'm feeling so stupid right now, like, beyond embarrassed. I met this guy, 'Alex,' on a Spanish language exchange app about two months ago. We started chatting, moved to WhatsApp, then Telegram. He was so charming, super supportive of my Spanish learning, and seemed genuinely interested in me. He started talking about crypto investments, how he was making good money through some 'private' platform. I was hesitant at first, but he was so patient, showing me "his" profits and everything. I eventually put in about 8k, then another 5k, into this platform he linked me to – it looked legit, had charts, everything. Now, everything's gone. The platform's offline, his numbers are dead, and I just feel sick to my stomach. I'm in Miami. What steps do I even take? Is reporting really going to do anything?
