A company called 'Global Debt Recovery' wants upfront fees to recover my crypto – legit or another scam?
Hi everyone, I'm kinda desperate here. Back in November, I lost a significant amount of crypto, about 8k EUR, to what turned out to be a classic pig butchering scam. It was on a fake trading platform, you know the drill. I reported it to the local police here in Nantes and my bank, but honestly, nothing really came of it. I just felt so stupid and embarrassed.
Today, I received an email from a company calling themselves 'Global Debt Recovery'. They said they found my case through 'public records' and claim they can help me get my funds back. They sound super official, talking about 'specialised blockchain forensics' and 'international legal teams'. But here's the catch: they're asking for an 'initial administrative fee' of about 1500 EUR to start the process. They say it covers their immediate costs for tracing and legal filing. My gut feeling is screaming *no*, especially after what happened before, but part of me is clinging to some hope. Are these types of companies ever legit? Or is this just another scam preying on heartbroken victims like me? Any advice would be really appreciated.
