Wallet drained after connecting to a fake crypto 'pre-sale' site, is it gone?
hi everyone, feeling pretty stupid rn. i usually consider myself pretty good with spotting scams but i clicked on this ad on x (twitter, whatever) for a new 'revolutionary' defi project pre-sale. it looked super legit, good graphics, whitepaper, even a roadmap. i'd done my homework, or so i thought. i connected my metamask and approved a transaction – it was supposed to just 'confirm my participation' and reserve some tokens. instead, my entire wallet, about 3k EUR in ETH and some USDC, just vanished. saw the transaction on Etherscan, funds sent to some random address. this happened yesterday around 3 PM, my time. i immediately disconnected my wallet, revoked approvals via revoke.cash but it was too late. tried reporting it to metamask support but they said they can't do anything. i'm just so lost. is there any hope at all or should i just accept it's gone? any advice on what else I can or should do?
Wallet drained after connecting to a 'pre-sale' site for a new memecoin, is it recoverable?
Was scrolling through Twitter (oops, X now lol) last week and saw this project for a new memecoin getting a ton of hype. Looked pretty legit, they had a decent-looking website, roadmap, big follower counts, all that jazz. They were advertising a 'pre-sale' where you could get in super early before it hit exchanges. I connected my MetaMask, approved a transaction to swap some ETH for their token, and boom, my wallet was drained, not just the ETH I tried to swap – literally everything. All my WETH, some USDC, even a bit of MATIC from a few months back. I feel like such an idiot. I've heard about these direct wallet drainer contract scams but never thought I'd fall for one. Is there *any* way to trace this or get my tokens back? I'm heartbroken, it was a significant amount for me.
