Lost my crypto to a 'sweetheart' from a language exchange app, what now from Scotland?
Honestly, I'm mortified even writing this. I met someone on one of those language exchange apps, you know, Tandem or HelloTalk. We clicked really well, loads in common, chatted for weeks, then months. Started talking about investing, he said he had a really good 'mentor' and was making serious money on some crypto platform called ZG.com. Showed me screenshots, said he'd help me set up an account, teach me the ropes. Felt so real, like a genuine connection. I transferred about 15k GBP in Bitcoin over to ZG.com, and for a bit, it looked like it was growing. He was so supportive, always encouraging. Then suddenly, couldn't withdraw anything. Support just ghosted me. He disappeared too. I feel like such an idiot. I'm in Glasgow, Scotland. Is there *anything* I can do? I've heard of Action Fraud but is that even relevant for crypto? And what about the emotional side? I feel so stupid and betrayed.

We got chatting, seemed super friendly, interested in Scottish history which made sense since I'm in Glasgow. Over time, it shifted, he started talking about crypto investments, how he was making so much money easily. I was skeptical at first, but opencash.net, this platform he was using, looked legit. Then he convinced me to move over to ZG.com because it was 'better for bigger returns'. I transferred about £7,000, which was my emergency savings, into what I thought was real crypto (USDT) on ZG.com. I saw the numbers going up for a while, it felt real, you know? Then, when I tried to withdraw a small amount for a car repair, suddenly I needed to pay a 'tax' or 'verification fee'. That's when my stomach dropped. He went quiet. ZG.com support stopped responding. Everything. It's all gone. I feel so stupid, so betrayed. I've reported it to my bank, but they just said the money's gone once it's crypto. I'm in Scotland. What can I actually *do*? Is there any way to report this properly or maybe even get some of it back? I can't believe I fell for this.
