Lost my inheritance to 'the one' from Facebook, now fake platform wants 'security deposit' to withdraw. Help?
Feeling like such an idiot, guys. I met someone on Facebook, a really lovely person, or so I thought. We chatted for months, long calls, shared so much. Eventually, they started talking about this crypto platform, saying it was a 'safe' way to grow my inheritance money. Said they'd made a lot, wanted us to build a future.
I put in a significant amount, not everything thankfully, but a big chunk. It showed growth, and when I tried to withdraw some profits for my sister's medical bills, it got complicated. First, they said there were 'system security issues' because my IP address changed, then demanded a 'security deposit' of $3,000 to 'verify my identity' and unlock the withdrawal function. Now the person has ghosted me.
I'm in Durban, South Africa. Is there any way to recover this? I've sent money through local banks and also some crypto from my Luno account. I feel so ashamed and desperate. What can I do?
