My MetaMask was drained after a software update popup, can I ever get my crypto back?
Feeling absolutely sick right now. I don't even know where to begin. It was late last night, I was just trying to check some NFTs on OpenSea before bed, and this pop-up appeared saying MetaMask needed a critical software update. It looked totally legitimate, like a browser extension update. I clicked it, maybe entered my password, can't even remember the exact sequence, my mind's a blur. Next thing I know, my whole wallet is GONE. Every single token. ETH, USDC, even a few smaller altcoins. It was all gone in minutes. I'm talking about like, low five figures worth. Hours later, I found out it was a fake update, a drainer scam. I've reported it to MetaMask, but they just sent an automated reply. Is there *any* hope at all? Has anyone ever actually gotten their funds back after a wallet drain like this?
