Lost my savings to a 'new friend' from a fitness app via CoinEgg. Any hope from US?
Feeling absolutely devastated and pretty stupid, tbh. I met someone on a fitness app, just looking for workout buddies, you know? We chatted for a bit, seemed really nice, normal even. Then they started talking about crypto, how they made a lot of money on this platform called CoinEgg. Said they had an 'uncle' who was an expert and could give tips.
Long story short, they convinced me to put in some money, then more, then even more to 'unlock bonuses.' Now all my funds are gone, the website is down, and they've ghosted me. I lost over $12,000, which was pretty much my entire emergency fund. I tried reporting it to my bank, but they said because I authorized the transfers, there's not much they can do. I feel so ashamed, I haven't even told my family yet. Is there anything, *anything* at all I can do from the US?
