My savings are gone after a fake 'staking pool' on a new exchange, what now?
Feeling totally gutted right now. I was trying to get into crypto a bit more, saw this 'new' exchange advertised on a financial forum I used to trust. It looked legit, smooth UI, promised great APYs on staking, way better than what Coinbase or Kraken offered. I moved a decent chunk of my savings, like low five figures, over to them in USDT and ETH to join their 'defi staking pool'. They even had a chat function with 'support' that seemed helpful at first.
Then, when I tried to withdraw just a small amount to test it out, nothing. Error messages. The 'support' person kept saying there were 'network issues' or 'KYC verification pending' and asked for more funds to 'unlock' my account. I didn't send more, thankfully. Now their website is completely down, chat offline, everything. It feels like they just vanished. I'm in Vancouver, and this was literally all my emergency savings. Is there anything, anything at all, that can be done? Or is it just gone for good?
