Lost my ETH after signing what I thought was a simple transaction for a new token on Uniswap, am I doomed?
I really messed up, you guys. I was trying to ape into this new meme coin on Uniswap last night, around 10 PM here in Dubai. I connected my MetaMask wallet, everything seemed fine. I went to swap some ETH for this new token, and it prompted me to "approve" the token first, which I thought was standard for new tokens. I clicked approve, and the transaction went through. Immediately after, my entire ETH balance, about 0.8 ETH (which is like, half my savings), just vanished. It was transferred out right after that "approval" transaction cleared. My partner was furious when I told them this morning.
I checked Etherscan and saw my ETH was sent to a completely different wallet address. I don't understand how an approval for one token could let them take *all* my ETH. Is this a common scam? Can Chainalysis or anyone actually trace this and get my funds back, or did I just lose everything because I was too quick to click? I'm so stressed out.
