A company called 'Global Asset Recovery Agency' wants a 'service activation fee' – another scam?
Hi everyone, I'm feeling really vulnerable right now and could use some advice. Back in September, I lost a good chunk of my savings, around £7,000, to a bogus investment platform that promised insane crypto returns. It was such a stupid mistake, my partner was furious, and I've just been trying to move on. Then yesterday, out of the blue, I got an email from a company calling themselves 'Global Asset Recovery Agency'. They somehow knew all the details of my previous scam – the platform name, the amount I lost, everything. They even had my email and surname. They sounded very professional, talking about 'specialized blockchain tracing' and 'international legal frameworks'. They've sent me a 'contract' and are asking for a 'service activation fee' of £500, paid to a Revolut account. My gut is screaming scam again, but a tiny part of me is desperate for closure or even a glimmer of hope. Has anyone dealt with these guys or something similar? Is this just another layer of the same old trick? I really can't afford to lose another penny.
Sent crypto to a fake 'investment platform' found on Instagram, is my money gone?
Hi everyone, I'm really at my wit's end here. I saw an ad on Instagram for a crypto investment platform, it looked legit, had a sleek website, all the bells and whistles. They even had a 'customer support' chat that was super responsive initially. I put in about 5000 USDT (which is a huge sum for me, nearly my life savings tbh) through a few transfers from my Revolut account to what I thought was their wallet address. They showed me 'profits' on a dashboard, saying my investment was growing like crazy. When I tried to withdraw a small amount this morning, they said I needed to pay a 'tax fee' first, like 15% of the total profit, in crypto. That's when it clicked. This is a scam, isn't it? I feel so stupid. Is there any way to get it back? I have the transaction hashes and their 'platform' URL.
