My 'broker' told me my account is 'frozen for suspicious activity' and wants a 'security unfreeze deposit'. What gives?
Right, so I've been with this broker, EuroFX, for about 6 months now. Started small, put in like 500 quid, and slowly, slowly, it built up to what looked like a decent profit. I thought, great, time to take a bit out, maybe 3 or 4k, just to see if it's real before I put more in. I asked for a withdrawal last week, and then nothing. Chased them up yesterday, and today I get an email saying my account is 'frozen due to suspicious activity' and that I need to pay a 'security unfreeze deposit' of about 15% of my balance to 'verify my identity' and 'lift the freeze'.
It feels super dodgy, you know? Like, if they already have my ID, why do they need more money for verification? And why now, only when I want to withdraw? I didn't see anything about this in their terms. Has anyone else heard of this? Is this a standard thing or am I getting played?
