My unregulated broker, OptionStarsGlobal, is demanding a 'system upgrade fee' to release my profits. Scam?
Hey everyone, I'm feeling sick to my stomach about this. I've been trading forex with OptionStarsGlobal for about six months now. I know, I know, it was unregulated, but their platform looked legit and the initial returns were crazy good, like seriously impressive. I started with a small deposit, then put in more, and according to my account balance, I've got a decent low five-figures profit now. I've tried to withdraw some of it, like just a few thousand to see if it works, and they hit me with this email saying I need to pay a 'system upgrade fee' – it's like 10% of my total balance – to process any withdrawals. They're saying it's for 'enhanced security protocols' or something. It feels incredibly fishy, like they're just trying to get more money out of me. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? What should I do? I'm in Brisbane and feeling pretty lost. Any advice would be appreciated.
