Is 'Crypto Refund Solutions' asking for a 'tax clearance fee' another scam after my huge loss?
Okay, so I was part of that huge scam last year, you know, the one where everyone lost their crypto on that fake exchange platform. I lost about half my savings, almost 50k AUD. It's been devastating. I reported it to ASIC, but haven't heard much back. Well, out of the blue, I got an email from 'Crypto Refund Solutions'. They said they track lost funds and have identified some crypto belonging to me. They even sent me a screenshot that *looked* like my old wallet address with a recovered balance.
Now, they're asking for a 'tax clearance fee' upfront, apparently to release the funds. It's not a small amount either, like 5,000 AUD. They say it's paid to some international tax authority before they can transfer the bitcoin back. My gut is screaming scam again, but a small part of me is desperate. Has anyone dealt with these guys or heard of this 'tax clearance fee' thing? Is it legitimate?
