Lost a load of USDT after approving a malicious transaction on what I thought was Binance – total nightmare, can I get it back?
I'm in a total panic. Yesterday evening, I got a text message, looked super official, saying there was a 'security alert' on my Binance account and I needed to verify some transactions or it'd be locked. I clicked the link, it took me to what looked exactly like the Binance login page. I didn't even think twice, just logged in with my details. Immediately after, it prompted me to approve a transaction for a 'security check' or something. I saw it was for USDT, but I was so stressed about my account being locked, I just hit confirm on my Trust Wallet without really looking. Then my trust wallet connected, and boom, like 3,500 USDT just vanished. Not into Binance, just... gone to some random address. I immediately logged into the REAL Binance app, checked my withdrawal history, nothing. The link from the text wasn't the real Binance URL, it was some weird misspelling. Feel like such an idiot. Is there any way to trace this or get my money back?
Crypto 'wallet drainer' scam after clicking a sponsored ad for Ledger, what can I do?
Feeling totally gutted right now. I usually try to be so careful online, but I messed up big time. I saw a sponsored ad on my social feed yesterday morning, it looked super legit, like it was for Ledger, you know, the hardware wallet company. I clicked on it because I was actually looking to set up an additional wallet for some new investments. The site looked identical to the real Ledger site, it even had a little padlock and everything. I typed in my seed phrase, like an idiot, thinking I was generating a new wallet or recovering one, and seconds later, my existing Trust Wallet connected and everything was GONE. I watched it happen in real-time, all my ETH, some SOL, about 4k AUD worth. I immediately disconnected everything and reported it to Trust Wallet support, but they just said that once it's on-chain, there's nothing they can do. Is there really no way to trace this, or get it back? I feel so stupid and embarrassed. Any advice?
