A company called 'Digital Asset Recovery' wants a 'blockchain verification fee' to get my crypto back. Scam?
I really need some advice here. I lost a significant amount of crypto, about 5,000 USDT, in a fake investment platform just a few months ago. I was devastated because it was money I really couldn't afford to lose. I reported it to the local police here in Dubai, but they said it's very hard to track for crypto cases.
Yesterday, I received an email from a company calling themselves 'Digital Asset Recovery'. They said they found my case through a dark web scan (which sounded a bit weird) and claim they can retrieve my funds. They sent me a professional-looking proposal and even a fake-ish looking 'case ID'. The only catch is, they're asking for a 'blockchain verification fee' of 0.05 BTC (around $3000 USD right now) to initiate the recovery process. They say it's to cover the costs of validating the lost transactions on the blockchain before they can actually move the funds back to my wallet. It sounds *just* like the kind of thing the original scammers asked for, but I'm so desperate to get my money back. Is this actually legitimate, or am I about to get scammed again?
