Lost everything to a 'friend' from a wellness app on a forex platform. Any hope from Dubai?
Feeling absolutely devastated and pretty stupid, tbh. Met someone super charming on a wellness app, we connected over fitness goals and healthy living. Started as just friendly chats, then escalated into talks about financial independence, and they showed me this 'amazing' forex trading platform.
I started small, like a few hundred dollars, and it looked like I was making money. They were so encouraging, saying I had a knack for it. Ended up putting in over $84,000, which was my entire savings from years of working hard. When I tried to withdraw a significant chunk, it got blocked. They said I needed to pay a 'tax' of 20% before I could get anything. I panicked, didn't pay, and now the whole platform is gone. Completely inaccessible. My 'friend' also disappeared. I'm in Dubai, and I've tried reaching out to local authorities, but it feels like hitting a brick wall. Is there ANYthing I can do? Or am I just completely out of luck?
