Has anyone had success recovering funds from a deepfake crypto scam with Nethertrace?
Hi everyone, I'm Sean from Galway, Ireland. I'm in a pretty tough spot right now. About three months ago, I fell victim to a really sophisticated deepfake crypto scam. Basically, I thought I was talking to a colleague from a previous job – his face, his voice, everything seemed authentic on a video call. This person convinced me to 'invest' in a new crypto project, even showed me some 'returns' on a fake platform. Long story short, I lost a significant amount, low five figures. I've been feeling absolutely rubbish, embarrassed, and honestly, a bit foolish. Tried reporting it to the local Gardai but they just gave me a crime reference number and said it's probably unrecoverable, seeing as it's crypto and international. I've been doing some research online, and [Nethertrace](https://nethertrace.co) keeps coming up in discussions about crypto recovery. They seem to have good reviews, but I'm still feeling very cautious after being scammed once already. Has anyone here personally worked with Nethertrace for a deepfake scam, or any similar sophisticated scam where the fraudsters went to great lengths? What was your experience like? Lost ETH after AI deepfake support call – has anyone recovered from this new scam?
I really need some advice here, I feel so stupid. I was trying to troubleshoot a minor issue with my Coinbase account, just a small transaction not showing up. I Googled 'Coinbase support' and clicked what looked like the official link. It took me to a chat where an 'AI assistant' was super helpful, but then it escalated to a video call. The person on the call looked EXACTLY like a real Coinbase employee I'd seen in a YouTube tutorial once. Seriously, the voice, the mannerisms, everything. They guided me through a 'security verification' process, which involved me approving a transaction on my wallet to 'link' my account to a new, supposedly more secure, internal service. I thought it was legit. Next thing I know, my ETH is GONE. Like, cleared out. It was a substantial amount, honestly. I immediately contacted real Coinbase support, and they confirmed it was a scam, an AI deepfake. They said my funds were sent to an external address, and there's nothing they can do. Has anyone else fallen for this AI deepfake support scam? Is there ANY hope of tracing or recovering the funds? I'm in Lyon, France, and feeling completely lost.
