Crypto funds gone from my hot wallet after connecting to a new DEX, can I get it back?
Ugh, feeling so dumb right now. So, last week, I was on my laptop, just casually browsing new DeFi projects and stumbled upon this new DEX. It looked pretty legit, clean UI, promised decent APY for some stablecoin pools. I'm usually super careful, but I guess I got a bit complacent. I connected my MetaMask wallet – just a small amount, thankfully not my whole portfolio, but still like, 7k USD in ETH and some USDC. Approved a transaction to 'stake' in a pool. Everything looked fine for a bit, then I went to check today and my wallet balance is basically zero for those coins. The transaction history on Etherscan looks super weird, like my funds were just... sent away? Not to the staking pool address I remember. My partner thinks it's completely gone but I'm hoping there's *some* way to trace it. Has anyone managed to recover funds after something like this? I'm in Halifax, Canada btw. Any advice or direction is appreciated. Thanks.
My savings are gone after a 'liquidity mining' pool on a new DEX, can I get it back?
Hey everyone, feeling really stupid right now. I usually consider myself pretty tech-savvy, but I got completely suckered. I was introduced to this new 'DEX' through a Telegram group – someone I thought was a friend, but clearly not. They were talking about insane APYs on a 'liquidity mining' pool, like 300% on USDT. I started small, then got greedy and moved a big chunk of my savings, about 15k USDT, into it through my Trust Wallet. Everything looked legit on their site, numbers going up, thought I was making bank. But when I tried to withdraw, it kept saying 'insufficient gas' or 'transaction failed'. Then the site just vanished. My wallet shows the funds went out to a weird contract address. Is there ANY way to trace this or get it back? I feel sick to my stomach. This was money I was saving for my kid's education. Any advice is appreciated.
My MetaMask was drained after connecting to a 'new DEX' – any chance of getting my ETH back?
Feeling totally gutted right now. I saw an ad on Twitter for what looked like a new decentralized exchange, promising really good returns on staking certain tokens. It looked legit, I mean, the UI was clean, good branding, seemed professional. I connected my MetaMask wallet, thinking I'd just explore a bit, maybe swap some small amount. But almost immediately after I connected, my ETH balance dropped to zero. Everything was just *gone*. My WETH too. I didn't even approve a transaction, just connected. I checked Etherscan and saw a bunch of outgoing transactions I definitely didn't initiate. Is there *any* way to get it back? This was a significant portion of my savings, and I'm freaking out.
