Crypto 'tech support' drained my wallet after I messed up a transaction – can anything be done?
Hey everyone, I'm kinda desperate here. I messed up sending some ETH from my MetaMask to Binance, somehow it got stuck or something. Panicked and searched for 'MetaMask support' on Google, which I know now was dumb. Ended up in a chat with someone claiming to be official support. They were super reassuring, walked me through 'connecting' my wallet to their 'diagnostic tool'. Said it was just to check the transaction status. Next thing I know, my entire MetaMask balance – about $18k USD worth of ETH and some other tokens – was GONE. Just vanished, transferred out to some address I don't recognize. This happened late last night, around 10 PM. My partner is furious, and I just feel sick to my stomach. Is there literally *anything* I can do? I've already reported it to Binance and IC3, but I'm not holding my breath.
My USDT disappeared after a 'customer support' chat on CoinEgg. Is it gone for good?
Hey everyone, I'm really panicking here. I had about $12,000 USDT on what I thought was a legitimate exchange, CoinEgg. I'd been trading there for a few months, mostly small amounts. Last week, I got a notification saying my account needed 'urgent verification' to avoid suspension. It looked pretty convincing, like a real pop-up. I clicked it and it opened a chat with 'customer support'. They asked me to 'authenticate' my wallet by providing my private key, saying it was a new security measure. I know, I know, huge red flag, but I was so worried about losing access to my funds and they sounded really helpful. Within an hour of giving them the key, my USDT balance was zero. I immediately tried to log in again but couldn't. I've sent emails but no response. Is there anything at all I can do? I'm based in Singapore, this is almost all my savings.
Feeling so frustrated after a fake crypto wallet validation scam, has Nethertrace helped anyone?
Hey everyone, I'm Leon from Hannover. I recently got completely ripped off by a fake crypto wallet validation scam, and I'm feeling pretty lost right now. Long story short, I fell for a phishing link, thought I was connecting my MetaMask to a legitimate platform, and then my wallet was drained. I lost about 8.5k EUR, which for me is a massive amount. It happened so fast, and the scammers were so convincing. I've been doing some research into recovery options, and I keep seeing the name [Nethertrace](https://nethertrace.co) pop up. Honestly, after everything, I'm super hesitant to trust anyone again, especially with all the fake recovery agencies out there. My bank said there's nothing they can do since it's crypto. Has anyone here had actual success with Nethertrace after a similar wallet drain or validation scam? What was your experience like? Did they ask for upfront fees? Any insights would be super helpful, feeling pretty low.
My 'crypto manager' took my Trust Wallet seed phrase and drained everything – any hope?
Hey everyone, feeling pretty sick to my stomach right now. I met this guy online, seemed legit, talked a good game about crypto investments. He presented himself as a 'crypto manager' and kept saying he'd help me optimize my portfolio. Eventually, he convinced me to give him my Trust Wallet seed phrase, claiming he needed it for some 'advanced staking protocols' that required direct wallet integration. I know, I know, I was an idiot. My guard was down. He promised huge returns. Today, I checked my wallet, and everything's gone. ETH, BNB, some altcoins – all of it. The total was like, low five figures. I can see the transactions on the blockchain, moving to a new address. I've tried messaging him, but he's ghosted me completely. I've already reported it to the local police, but they seemed pretty clueless about crypto. Is there *anything* I can do? Or am I just completely out of luck because I gave away my seed phrase?
Crypto funds gone from my hot wallet after connecting to a new DEX, can I get it back?
Ugh, feeling so dumb right now. So, last week, I was on my laptop, just casually browsing new DeFi projects and stumbled upon this new DEX. It looked pretty legit, clean UI, promised decent APY for some stablecoin pools. I'm usually super careful, but I guess I got a bit complacent. I connected my MetaMask wallet – just a small amount, thankfully not my whole portfolio, but still like, 7k USD in ETH and some USDC. Approved a transaction to 'stake' in a pool. Everything looked fine for a bit, then I went to check today and my wallet balance is basically zero for those coins. The transaction history on Etherscan looks super weird, like my funds were just... sent away? Not to the staking pool address I remember. My partner thinks it's completely gone but I'm hoping there's *some* way to trace it. Has anyone managed to recover funds after something like this? I'm in Halifax, Canada btw. Any advice or direction is appreciated. Thanks.
