My USDT disappeared after a 'technical issue' on a crypto lending platform - is it gone?
Ok, so I'm kinda freaking out. I had about $12k in USDT on this platform called 'GlobalYieldFinance.net' (which, yeah, I know now sounds dodgy as hell). I was earning some pretty sweet APY, like way better than anywhere else. For about three months, everything was fine – I even withdrew small amounts a couple of times. Ngl, it felt too good to be true, and it was. Last week, I tried to log in, and it said 'Technical Maintenance - Please try again in 24 hours.' That was five days ago. Now the entire website is just gone. Poof. Vanished. I can't access anything. I tried looking up the company; their social media accounts are gone too. I feel like such an idiot, I completely fell for it. Is there any, ANY chance my money isn't just floating in the ether forever? I didn't connect my wallet directly, I transferred USDT from Kraken after buying it. What should I even do? I'm in Seattle, pretty devastated right now.
Lost a load of USDT after connecting WalletConnect to a fake 'APY staking' site, any hope?
Okay, so I'm completely gutted. Last Thursday, around lunchtime, I was on my lunch break and saw an ad on Twitter, promoted by some account I thought was legit – had tons of followers, you know? It promised crazy APY, like 200%, for staking USDT. Sounded too good to be true, and tbh, it totally was. I connected my MetaMask wallet via WalletConnect, authorized the transaction *thinking* I was staking, and then my USDT just... vanished. Poof. Like 4,500 USD gone in seconds. Felt sick to my stomach. I've heard about these 'permit' or 'approve' scams now, and that's exactly what happened. I've disconnected my wallet, revoked all permissions, but the USDT is still gone. Is there *any* way to trace this or get it back? Feeling really stupid here. My partner is furious.
