My unregulated broker, 'GlobalTrade Hub', is demanding a 'tax clearance certificate fee' to release funds after I finally made some profit. Is this a new scam?
Ok, so I've been dabbling in online trading for a few months now, mostly CFDs. I signed up with this platform called 'GlobalTrade Hub' after seeing some ads, and honestly, it felt pretty good at first. They had a slick interface, and a 'personal account manager' who was super attentive. I put in about $3k initially, then another $2k when they said I was 'close to a breakthrough'. Fast forward to last week, I've actually managed to turn a profit – at least, their platform shows a decent balance. It says I have around $12,000! So I tried to withdraw, just a small amount to test it out, and that's where the trouble started. My account manager, 'Mark', is now saying I need to pay a 'tax clearance certificate fee' before any funds can be released. He says it's because I'm withdrawing from an international account and it's a new regulatory requirement for 'large' withdrawals to prove I'm not evading taxes. He wants me to pay *another* $1,500 directly to them for this 'certificate'. This sounds super fishy to me. I'm in Canada, and I've never heard of anything like this. Has anyone else encountered this 'tax clearance certificate fee' with their broker, especially an unregulated one? I'm really worried I've lost everything. What should I do?
My unregulated CFD broker, IronFX offshore, is asking for a 'profit verification fee' to release funds. Scam?
Hey everyone, I'm feeling sick to my stomach about this. I started trading CFDs with IronFX offshore a few months ago after seeing some really impressive returns advertised. Everything seemed fine, I made some decent 'profits' according to their platform, and I decided to try and withdraw a significant portion, about five-six figures. But now they're saying I need to pay a 'profit verification fee' before they can process the withdrawal. They sent me an email saying it's for compliance and anti-money laundering checks, 'standard procedure' for large withdrawals. It feels super fishy. I've already put in a lot of money, and now they want more just to get my own money back? Has anyone encountered this with IronFX offshore or other brokers? Is this a common scam tactic, or is there any chance it's legitimate? I'm in Phoenix, USA, and just want to know if I should cut my losses or try to pay it.
Deposited with a shady CFD broker, now they're asking for 'liquidation fees' to withdraw profits?
Okay, so I got into CFD trading a few months back. Met this 'account manager' on Telegram, seemed legitimate enough at first. He kept pushing this broker called `PrimeEquityTrade` (not regulated anywhere I could find, rookie mistake, I know). Everything was great, my account 'grew' like crazy, showing insane profits. I put in about $8k USD over a couple of months. Now, I tried to withdraw a small portion, like $1k, just to see. And boom, they hit me with a 'liquidation fee' of 15% of my total account balance. They said it's 'standard procedure' for closing profitable positions and accessing funds. I really need this money back. It's my savings. Is this a common scam tactic? Has anyone faced this before with `PrimeEquityTrade` or similar platforms? What can I do? I'm in Singapore, if that matters. My bank is DBS.
