My Coinbase account got drained after linking to a 'new wallet' for staking – any hope?
Hey everyone, I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I got an email a few days ago, looked really official, about a new high-yield staking opportunity through Coinbase. It said I needed to connect my Coinbase account to a 'new verified staking wallet' to participate. I followed the link, which looked exactly like Coinbase's site, and entered my login details. It then asked for a 'wallet verification code' which popped up on my phone, and I entered that too. Then, nothing. The page just refreshed. I went directly to Coinbase app later and my entire portfolio, about 12k USD in ETH and BTC, was gone. Just zeroed out. I immediately changed my Coinbase password and enabled 2FA, but it was too late. I contacted their support, but they basically said once it's off-platform, it's out of their hands. They gave me the transaction IDs but said they can't reverse it. I feel so dumb. Is there *any* way to track this? Has anyone had success getting funds back from something like this? Or is it really just gone forever?
My Coinbase funds vanished after a 'wallet synchronization' link – did I just lose everything?
Feeling absolutely sick right now. I got an email, looked pretty official, saying Coinbase was doing a mandatory wallet synchronization for security reasons. It had a link, I clicked it, logged in with my details and even put in the 2FA code. Everything looked normal. Then, about an hour later, I check my actual Coinbase app and my entire balance is GONE. Like, zero. No transaction history, nothing. It just says '0.00'. I contacted Coinbase support but haven't heard back yet and I'm freaking out. This was a significant chunk of my savings. Did I fall for a phishing scam? Is there *any* way to get my crypto back, or is it just gone forever? I'm so desperate for answers. I tried logging in again through the official app, and it works, but the balance is still nothing.
Crypto vanished from Coinbase account after a weird 'security upgrade' email, is it gone?
Hey everyone, feeling pretty sick to my stomach right now. I woke up this morning to an email that looked like it was from Coinbase, saying there was a mandatory security upgrade and I needed to verify my account or it would be temporarily locked. It had all the right logos and everything, so I clicked the link, logged in, and followed the steps. It asked for my 2FA code too, which I gave. Now, my entire balance, around $12,000 worth of various coins, is gone. Completely. My transaction history shows transfers out to an unknown wallet address. I immediately changed my password, froze my account (or tried to), and reported it to Coinbase support, but they're just giving me canned responses about how crypto transfers are irreversible. Is there seriously *anything* I can do? I'm in Germany, this was my savings. I don't know what to do, feels like a nightmare.
Lost my crypto after a 'customer support' remote access scam on Coinbase, is it recoverable?
I'm feeling really stupid and heartbroken right now. Yesterday morning, I got a text message, looked *exactly* like Coinbase, saying there was suspicious activity on my account and I needed to verify immediately or it would be locked. I clicked the link, and it took me to a site that also looked exactly like Coinbase. I entered my login details, and then it said I needed to call their support line. I called the number, and the person on the other end, sounded very professional, told me I needed to install TeamViewer so they could 'secure my account.' I was half-asleep, honestly, and just followed instructions. They accessed my computer, moved some crypto from my Coinbase Pro account to another wallet I didn't recognize. About 0.8 ETH and some USDC, like, low five figures USD. My husband is furious. Is there ANY way to get this back? I reported it to Coinbase but they just said they can't reverse crypto transactions.
