My unregulated forex broker is suddenly demanding a 'dormancy fee' to release my funds. What now?
Hey everyone,
I'm honestly at my wit's end here. About a year and a half ago, I put some money into a forex platform that was recommended by a friend-of-a-friend. It wasn't a huge amount, about 3,000 euros, mostly just dabbling. I got busy with work and kinda forgot about it for a while, honestly.
Yesterday, I finally remembered it and tried to log in to see what was up. The platform, which I now realize is totally unregulated (no mention of BaFin or anything like that, kinda kicking myself for not checking sooner), said my account was 'inactive' and that to reactivate it and withdraw my balance (which they claim is now over 5,000 euros, lol, probably fake anyway), I need to pay a 'dormancy fee' of 800 euros.
This sounds like such a load of rubbish. I haven't paid anything yet. Has anyone encountered this specific 'dormancy fee' tactic? Is there any way to actually get my initial deposit back, or am I just out of luck here? Feeling really stupid for falling for this, ugh.
