Lost my crypto to a fake 'wallet recovery' tool, is it gone forever?
Hi everyone, I'm feeling so stupid right now, but I need to ask for help. A few weeks ago, I lost access to my Trust Wallet because my phone died and I didn't have my seed phrase written down properly (rookie mistake, I know, I know). I panicked and started searching for 'Trust Wallet recovery tool' online. I found this site that looked really legitimate and promised to help restore access using just my wallet address and a few other details, it even had testimonials. They asked for a small 'unlocking fee' in ETH, which I sent. Then they asked for another fee to 'verify funds' and then another for 'gas fees' to transfer the recovered crypto. Well, you can guess what happened. I sent about 0.8 ETH in total, which is a significant chunk of my savings, and now the site is gone. My wallet is still inaccessible. Did I just get scammed twice? First by myself for being careless, then by these recovery guys? Is there any hope at all to get my crypto back? Any advice appreciated, I'm really beating myself up over this.
My MetaMask was drained after connecting to a 'new staking dApp' through a social media ad, is there any hope?
Hi everyone, I'm absolutely beside myself. I saw an ad on Instagram for a new staking dApp that promised crazy returns, like 20% APY on ETH. It looked legit, had a sleek interface, and I'd heard of a few new projects popping up, so I thought, why not? I connected my MetaMask wallet, approved what I thought was a staking transaction, and next thing i knew, my entire ETH balance was gone. Literally everything, poof. This happened about three days ago, late evening here in Waterford. I immediately disconnected my wallet, changed my MetaMask password, but the ETH was already moved to another address. I tried looking on Etherscan, but it just looks like a bunch of anonymous transactions. I've heard about these 'wallet drainers' but never thought I'd fall for one. Is there *any* way to get it back? Like, is there a chance it wasn't a drainer? I feel so stupid and angry at myself right now. Any advice? Even if it's just to tell me it's totally gone, I need to know.
Wallet drained after airdrop claim on a site promising 'free ETH' – what happened?
Hi everyone, I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I saw this ad on X (Twitter) for an airdrop, something about 'free ETH' for early adopters of a new DeFi project. It looked legit, had a professional-looking website, and seemed like a quick way to get some free crypto. Stupid, I know, I really should have known better. I connected my MetaMask wallet, confirmed the transaction for claiming the airdrop (I thought it was just gas fees, like a small amount). Literally seconds later, my entire wallet balance, about 1.5 ETH and some stablecoins, was gone. Just disappeared. The transaction looked like I *sent* it, not claimed. This happened yesterday evening, maybe around 8 PM GMT. I've been panicking ever since. Is there anyone out there who's experienced this? Is there any way to get it back? I've reported it to Kraken support too, but haven't heard much back yet.
Lost a load of ETH following 'expert' signals in a Telegram group – any hope for recovery?
I'm really hitting rock bottom here. I joined this Telegram group last month, 'Pro Crypto Signals FX' or something, thought it was legit. The admin, 'CryptoKing_Vip', seemed to know his stuff, posting screenshots of huge gains and saying join our VIP channel for signals. I paid a subscription, then started getting these 'signals' which sent me to this unregulated broker platform. They said my ETH would be locked in for trades, and I saw paper gains on their dashboard. I put in about 4 ETH, which is like, half my savings. Then when I tried to withdraw, they started demanding all these 'tax' and 'compliance' fees, saying I wouldn't get my money back otherwise. I sent a little more hoping to unlock it, but still nothing. Now the admin has blocked me, and the broker site is down. I feel so stupid. Has anyone actually recovered anything from these types of Telegram signal group scams? Or is i just gotta accept it's gone?
